Android 11 refuses to relinquish the throne: Its vizier is Android 10!
For the past 10 years, Google has regularly shared Android usage data. It shows the market share of all versions, from the first active Android 14 version to the latest release. And this market distribution reveals some truly interesting details. Particularly, the distribution among Android 9, 10, and 11 versions surprises many users.
Looking at the overall total, these versions actually create a fragmentation within the Android ecosystem. Users are generally not united under a single version. Almost all Android versions are actively used with small percentages (excluding very old versions like 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13). Android 14 was don’t list.
If we look at the data released by Google for May 2023, the situation becomes quite intriguing. While many Android users are awaiting Android 14, Android 11 holds the throne in the market. Having three separate Android versions adds another dimension to the situation. Following Android 11, Android 10 serves as its vizier. The list continues with Android 12 and 13, based on usage percentages.
Unlike iOS, there is an unusual ranking here. When we look at the usage rates of iOS versions, we generally see everyone concentrated on the latest release. However, in this case, a three-year-old version holds a higher position than the newest version. If we rank them according to percentages, we get the following list:

- Android 10: 17.8%
